Sofia Gay Bars & Clubs

Club Essence is a lesbian bar in Sofia and one of the only dedicated sapphic spaces in Eastern Europe. Open Friday and Saturday nights in a low-ceilinged basement, it stays packed from late evening through the wee hours of the morning.

The weekends bring DJs, karaoke, and the occasional comedy night. Since opening in 2004, the space has evolved to welcome all genders, but the focus remains proudly lesbian.

It opened in 2012 and pulls a mixed crowd—alt-leaning locals, expats, and visitors who know where to go after dark. DJs rotate through most weekends, and the energy stays consistent: focused, loud, and built for dancing.

VAULT is a gay nightclub in Sofia known for high production value and a focus on nightlife as spectacle. It’s the latest version of a long-running local club project, drawing a mixed, party-ready crowd most weekends. Lighting, music, and visuals are dialed all the way up, and the space leans into its reputation for late nights and over-the-top shows.

They host Pride opening and closing parties, Eurovision watch parties, drag nights and various other themed parties! Most of their events are held at The Steps.
